This is a compact barograph with NMEA–data output designed for ‘fixed’ use on boats. If you would like to use this barograph at home on a desk top, or, there is not enough depth for installation on your vessel , then we can supply wooden boxes to house your instrument. Look under accessories  for more information. This instrument is also available without display: barobox

The LCD on the barograph provides the following information:

1. A 48 hour pressure curve
2. A one, and three hour, pressure variation (alternating every second)
3. The time
4. The power supply
Air pressure units are hectopascals or inHg (USA)

People with an interest in meteorology will be able to use this barograph to both analyse, and improve, their weather predictions.
Sailors, especially, will be provided with information enabling them to predict the likelihood of increasing wind-speed or gales. However, weather prediction based upon changes in air pressure is not always precise. To this end this barograph should not be compared with so-called ‘stormwarners’.

A sudden drop in air pressure exceeding -1,4 hPA produces a short ‘beep’ tone every 5 minutes.
This instrument has been developed for high precision, pressure measurement temperature stabilized.

The barograph is resistant to shock or ship movements in high waves.  No more changing the barograph paper in rough sea !
The power supply for this instrument can be between 9 and 35 volts DC. Switched off, this instrument continues to store the pressure data up to 12 month using the batteries. The internal memory (256 KBits) can store pressure data of the last 28 days, with a time resolution of 5 minutes. Temperature is arlso recorded. The battery for switched-off operation is changeable (2 common mignon AA UM3 cells). All data from the barograph (pressure history of the last 28 days) can be transferred to a PC running under Windows 95 upwards via the RS232 data cable (supplied).
Software can be downloaded for free in order to display air pressure, and other data.
All data is sent according to NMEA at a rate of 4800 baud per second – the data format is compatible with (R)
Maxsea.
Details of our data format can be seen here:
databg1512.pdf
The barograph can be fully calibrated. Units can be switched to inHg ( inch mercury ).
